Little Dreamer Molly’s spirit lives on in Hawaiian themed bedroom

One of our Dreamers and recent bedroom recipient, Molly, passed away on June 24th at only 5 years old. Our hearts are heavy, as many of our designers and volunteers build close relationships to our Dreamers and their families during bedroom transformations. Molly had Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia and Neuroblastoma, and was one of three children in the world with this rare combination of cancers. She did get to spend time in her new room though, and we know it brought her an immense amount of joy.

Molly and her twin sister Emma had requested a Hawaiian themed room, including a desk so they could “have meetings like mommy”. Our designer Mardel brought this vision to life with royal blue aquatic themed wallpaper on one wall, and fun colorful bedspreads featuring starfish and other sea life. Both girls were not only twins, but each other’s best friend, and were very excited to share a room together. Beautiful white bunkbeds featuring a desk on one side, a bookshelf on the other, and a ladder to access the top bunk fit the room perfectly. We stocked the desk with plenty of arts supplies (one of Molly’s favorite activities) but made sure to leave some room for all the important meetings that were sure to be scheduled. A white dresser across from the bunkbeds complete the bedroom set, and a hanging white canopy over a pile of pillows in the corner next to the bookcase made for the perfect reading nook. Artwork with seashells and seahorses gave the room the finishing touch.

We are so happy that Emma will get to enjoy this bedroom in the wake of Molly’s passing, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this unimaginable time.
